Do you live with pain---from any source---that limits your enjoyment of life? At the Community Wellness Initiative Managing Pain Workshop, you can learn new ways to think about pain and techniques you can use to reduce your sense of suffering and improve your quality of life.

Topics include:

    • Why movement and toning can reduce pain
    • How to get more from your medications
    • The role you can play as part of the health care team

Boris Anyama, MD

As a former player in the NFL, Dr. Boris Anyama knows a lot about pain. Certified in pain medicine by the Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Anyama's clinical interests include a multi-pronged approach to spinal and muscular pain and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Boris Anyama is an anesthesiologist and pain medicine specialist with advanced training in interventional spine and sports-related pain. He completed his training in Pain Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he gained expertise in minimally invasive procedures for spine disorders, joint pain, neuropathic pain, and sports injuries.

Dr. Anyama currently practices at UPMC Jameson, where he provides evidence-based, innovative treatments such as targeted nerve blocks, radiofrequency ablation, neuromodulation, and ultrasound-guided interventions. His goal is to help patients restore function, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love.

Christopher Howard
Christopher Howard, MS

Chris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at the University of
Pittsburgh and a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion,
Wellness, and Fitness at California University of Pennsylvania.

He is certified by the American Council on Exercise as an Advanced Health and Fitness
Specialist and personal trainer and as an Exercise Physiologist by the American College
of Sports Medicine.

 

Nicole Kelly


Nicole was a member of the American Chronic Pain Association board of directors for
nearly 40 years, serving as board president and program director, where she developed
educational materials, videos, and the organization’s web site. She is currently a
member of the Board of Directors of the Community Wellness Initiative, a Pittsburgh
non-profit offering education in fitness, nutrition, and financial skills in underserved
communities. A Pittsburgh native, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carnegie
Mellon University.
